Book - The Devil's Chessboard (about Allen Dulles who would serve on the Warren Commission)

https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Devil_s_Chessboard.html?id=QLT-rQEACAAJ&source=kp_book_description

An explosive, headline-making portrait of Allen Dulles, the man who transformed the CIA into the most powerful—and secretive—colossus in Washington, from the founder of Salon.com and author of the New York Times bestseller Brothers.
America’s greatest untold story: the United States’ rise to world dominance under the guile of Allen Welsh Dulles, the longest-serving director of the CIA. Drawing on revelatory new materials—including newly discovered U.S. government documents, U.S. and European intelligence sources, the personal correspondence and journals of Allen Dulles’s wife and mistress, and exclusive interviews with the children of prominent CIA officials—Talbot reveals the underside of one of America’s most powerful and influential figures.
Dulles’s decade as the director of the CIA—which he used to further his public and private agendas—were dark times in American politics. Calling himself “the secretary of state of unfriendly countries,” Dulles saw himself as above the elected law, manipulating and subverting American presidents in the pursuit of his personal interests and those of the wealthy elite he counted as his friends and clients—colluding with Nazi-controlled cartels, German war criminals, and Mafiosi in the process. Targeting foreign leaders for assassination and overthrowing nationalist governments not in line with his political aims, Dulles employed those same tactics to further his goals at home, Talbot charges, offering shocking new evidence in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
An exposé of American power that is as disturbing as it is timely, The Devil’s Chessboard is a provocative and gripping story of the rise of the national security state—and the battle for America’s soul.

Eisenhower Warns of the Military Industrial Complex

JFK Went Up Against the Military Industrial Complex

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

It has emerged through historical documents that JFK did not believe that the war in Vietnam could be won and was planning to pull out American troops, according to his Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. In addition, Kennedy in a speech at American University on June 10, 1963 revealed his intention to short-circuit rapid build-up of nuclear weapons by both the US and the USSR by favoring a policy of detente. It is speculated that Kennedy diverged from the agenda of business elites and the "military-industrial complex", a term coined by President Eisenhower in his Farewell Speech. Eisenhower warned that the powerful combination of big business and military might prove a mortal threat to democracy.

Secret Service Ordered to Stand Down, but not the President's Wishes

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

On the day of the assassination, the Secret Service was ordered away from the limousine as it entered a hairpin turn just before the shooting began. Disputing a flurry of reports that the president was difficult to protect because he enjoyed being near the public and enjoyed campaigning, ten Secret Service agents who were in Kennedy's security detail went on-record in 1998 saying the opposite, that Kennedy never interfered with the details.

Mysterious Death of de Mohrenschildt

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

On March 29, 1976 De Mohrenschildt granted an interview to author Edward Jay Epstein, during which he claimed that in 1962, Dallas CIA operative J. Walton Moore had given him the go-ahead to meet Oswald. "I would never have contacted Oswald in a million years if Moore had not sanctioned it," De Mohrenschildt said.
On the same day as the interview, De Mohrenschildt was contacted by the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA.) That afternoon, he was found dead from a shotgun blast to the head. The verdict was suicide. Rep. Richardson Preyer, a member of the HSCA, said De Mohrenschildt was a "crucial witness."

Yet Another Coincidence - GHWB & George de Mohrenschildt

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

Journalist Russ Baker, author of the best-selling "Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America's Invisible Government,"(2009) has unearthed the startling coincidence that Lee Harvey Oswald's principle handler, after he arrived back in the states from self-imposed exile in the Soviet Union, was George de Mohrenschildt, and that De Mohrenschildt's nephew had roomed with George H. W. Bush at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.

RFK Jr. Said Father Thought it was Rogue CIA

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

When prodded by television host Charlie Rose to discuss his feelings on likely perpetrators of JFK's assassination, RFK Jr. said,

"KENNEDY: I think my father was fairly convinced at the end of that that there had been involvement by somebody …
ROSE: Organized crime, Cubans …
KENNEDY: Or rogue CIA …"

HSCA Concludes "Indeed a shot fired from the grassy knoll."

From: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/361731

As part of the the 1976 United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) evidence and conclusions, acoustics analysts Professor Mark Weiss and Ernest Aschkenasy of Queens College concluded that "with the probability of 95% or better, there was indeed a shot fired from the grassy knoll."

GHWB has played dirty since the beginning of his political career.

From: https://deadline.com/2018/11/george-h-w-bush-dies-41st-president-of-the-united-states-former-cia-head-1202512193/

His political career began in 1963, when he was elected chairman of the Harris County Republican Party. Later that year, just hours after President Kennedy was assassinated, Bush told the FBI that he believed his political rival, James Parrott, might have been involved. That proved to be unfounded, but it wouldn’t be the last time his unfounded allegations would play out during a national crisis.

In 1967 he was elected to Congress.  He ran for the Senate in 1970 at the urging of President Richard Nixon, but lost. Nixon repaid him by appointing him U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, an appointment that was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate.
With the Watergate scandal heating up after Nixon’s re-election in 1972, the president asked Bush to return to Washington as chairman of the Republican National Committee to help him manage the ever-growing scandal, in which Bush would play a pivotal role.
On July 24, 1973, the day after the Senate Watergate Committee subpoenaed Nixon to turn over the now-famous White House tapes, Bush held a press conference and accused Carmine Bellino — the Senate Watergate Committee’s chief investigator — of wiretapping Nixon’s hotel suite the night before his second TV debate with JFK back in 1960.  Bellino had been JFK’s chief investigator during the 1960 campaign, but as the Watergate Committee’s chief sleuth, it was his job to track down evidence for all the various crimes of which Nixon and his White House cronies were accused or suspected.
During his press conference, Bush sheepishly acknowledged that the evidence supporting his allegations against Bellino was “incomplete,” but said, “I’d like to see somebody develop it further.”
Senate Republicans demanded that Bellino be taken off the Watergate investigation – which he was – and that he be investigated himself, which he was for the next 2 1/2 months. In the end, the investigation found no evidence to support Bush’s allegation and Bellino was cleared, but many believe that it impeded the Senate’s Watergate probe.
As President Reagan’s VP, Bush claimed to be “out of the loop” during the Iran-contra scandal, in which the U.S. was secretly supplying arms to Iran and using the proceeds secretly to fund right-wing opposition groups in Nicaragua. Despite his claim of having little operational knowledge of the arms deals, his diary entry from that time, as he was preparing to run for the presidency, said: “I’m one of the few people who know fully the details.”

James L. Simmons was a witness to the assassination. He witnessed gunfire from the Grassy Knoll. He was never interviewed by the Warren Commission.

Assistant Press Secretary Malcolm Kilduff announces the death of President Kennedy to the press. Notice where he points when he says, "Bullet right through the head." This shows that the entry was not from Oswald's vantage point, but from the Grassy Knoll.

The Secret Service behaved strangely on the day of JFK's assassination

From: http://thesecretservicejournal.blogspot.com/2011/03/us-secret-service-murdered-jfk.html

Agents Greer and Kellerman – the driver of the Kennedy limousine and his supervisor – froze when the three shots were fired by Oswald in Dealey Plaza. Agent Greer stopped the car briefly and looked back to the passenger compartment where President Kennedy was being killed and Governor Connally seriously wounded. This was in complete disregard of Secret Service regulations that required the car to speed up and make evasive moves to throw off the aim of an sniper in case of an assassination attempt. Agent Kellerman is recorded as freezing when the shots rang out. It was only when Agent Hill jumped aboard to keep Mrs. Kennedy in the car did Agent Greer put on the gas and exited the kill zone.

The actions of Agent Emory P. Roberts are highly suspect. At Love Field where the Kennedy motorcade begin that fateful day, This was highly irregular and another violation of Secret Service regulations. So unusual was this move one of the bodyguards is filmed holding out his hands as if to ask, “why?” Later when the shots were fired in Dealey Plaza, Agent Roberts ordered his men not to leave the back up car. This order was disobeyed by Agent Hill who managed to keep Mrs. Kennedy from climbing out of the presidential limousine. This was the only heroic action displayed by the Secret Service that fateful day.

Agent Kellerman and “The Battle of Kennedy's Body.” The actions of Agent Kellerman went from passive to aggressive when he and a Secret Service detail with drawn guns stole the body of President Kennedy and the blooded limousine from Texas authorities, who had jurisdiction over the evidence of the homicide. This made detailed analysis of the crime scene very difficult.

J. Edgar Hoover wanted to convince the public that Oswald acted alone.

From: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41774066
In a memo written the day assassin Lee Harvey Oswald was killed, FBI director J Edgar Hoover expressed concern about the spread of conspiracy theories.
"The thing I am concerned about is having something issued so that we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin," he said.

From Joachim Joesten's, How Kennedy Was Killed (1968) - Could the rich oil man be GHWB?

From: https://spartacus-educational.com/JFKtippet.htm

When Chief Justice Warren and other members of the Commission on June 7, 1964, interviewed Ruby at the Dallas County jail. General Counsel Rankin told Ruby:

There was a story that you were sitting in your Carousel Club with Mr. (Bernard) Weissman, Officer Tippit, and another man who has been called a rich oil man, at one time shortly before the assassination. Can you tell us anything about that?'

To which Ruby replied with a counter-question: 'Who was the rich oil man?'

The Select Committee on Assassinations of 1979 disagreed with the Warren Report findings.

Findings of the Select Committee on Assassinations in the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, November 22, 1963.

The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. The committee is unable to identify the other gunman or the extent of the conspiracy....

Warren Report on Agent Hickey at the time of the shooting. But why was Agent Ready called back? At that moment, the President's car was only traveling 11 mph.

From: https://spartacus-educational.com/JFKhickey.htm

Special Agent Ready, on the right front running board of the Presidential follow-up car, heard noises that sounded like firecrackers and ran toward the President's limousine. But he was immediately called back by Special Agent Emory K. Roberts, in charge of the follow-up car, who did not believe that he could reach the President's car at the speed it was then traveling. Special Agent George W. Hickey, Jr., in the rear seat of the Presidential follow-up car, picked up and cocked an automatic rifle as he heard the last shot. At this point the cars were speeding through the underpass and had; left the scene of the shooting, but Hickey kept the automatic weapon ready as the car raced to the hospital. Most of the other Secret Service agents in the motorcade had drawn their sidearms.

Look at frame 5:52 to see Governor Connolly turn around after hearing the firecracker and just before the shot that entered the President's back and then entered the Governor.

Secret Service Agent Winston Lawson seems to implicate Agent Hickey.

From: https://spartacus-educational.com/JFKhickey.htm

As the lead car was passing under this bridge I heard the first loud, sharp report and in more rapid succession two more sounds like gunfire. I could see persons to the left of the motorcade vehicles running away. I noticed Agent Hickey standing up in the follow-up car with the automatic weapon and first thought he had fired at someone. Both the President's car and our lead car rapidly accelerated almost simultaneously. I heard a report over the two-way radio that we should proceed to the nearest hospital. I noticed Agent Hill hanging on to the rear of the President's vehicle.

Secret Service Agent George Hickey's Statement seems credible (November 23, 1963)

From: https://spartacus-educational.com/JFKhickey.htm

Just prior to the shooting the Presidential car turned left at the intersection and started down an incline toward an underpass followed by 679X. After a very short distance I heard a loud report which sounded like a firecracker. It appeared to come from the right and rear and seemed to me to be at ground level. I stood up and looked to my right and rear in an attempt to identify it. Nothing caught my attention except people shouting and cheering. A disturbance in 679X caused me to look forward toward the President's car. Perhaps 2 or 3 seconds elapsed from the time I looked to the rear and then looked at the President. He was slumped forward and to his left, and was straightening up to an almost erect sitting position as I turned and looked. At the moment he was almost sitting erect I heard two reports which I thought were shots and that appeared to me completely different in sound than the first report and were in such rapid succession that there seemed to be practically no time element between them. Possibly four or five seconds elapsed from the time of the first report and the last.

Recapping the Shooting/Assassination

In the photo below, we see Secret Service Agent George Hickey holding the AR-15 Rifle as he described in his statement.  Everything else in the picture is consistent with Hickey's statement (see posting above).  The shots had already occurred and both cars are speeding towards Parkland hospital.

Agent Clint Hill (part of Mrs. Kennedy's detail) is the only agent to have made it to the car (for reasons that have never been explained).  Could it be that some of the agents were complicit in the plan to kill the president?

Hickey states (see Dec 26) entry above that at first he heard what he thought was a firecracker coming from the rear, right, ground level.  Could it have been a firecracker?  This is consistent with other witnesses who saw a spark on the ground and who smelled gunpowder (used in firecrackers) at the rear of the motorcade.

In any case, the significant shot came from the area of the Grassy Knoll.  This was the kill-shot that blew the President's brains out the back of his head.  This fact is supported by -

1. The Zapruder film evidence.
2. The eye-witness accounts/evidence.
3. The autopsy evidence including photographs.

A recap of the three "shots" -

1. Shot #1 was not an actual shot, but a firecracker lit off by one person involved. It served as a distraction and it set the killing in motion.  It was lit by someone standing at the right of the motorcade (or possibly was dropped out of the right side of one of the motorcade cars).  Governor Connally heard the noise and turned around putting him in line with the second shot (which was actual gunfire).

2. Shot #2 was actually the first gunshot.   The first sound was a firecracker.  It was quickly followed by shot #3 (the kill-shot).  This second shot came from behind the President's car.  It entered the President in the back and went straight through him and into Governor Connolly. It might have come from the 6th floor of the Book Depository.  This is uncertain.

3. Shot #3 was the kill-shot.  A hired gun (may or may not have been James Files; just who did the shooting is not extremely relevant as the man was surely a hired assassin and not part of the conspiracy to kill the President).  The assassin was told to aim for the center of the forehead (a sure kill).  He was only slight off shooting the President just above his right eye (as numerous witnesses attested to and the Zapruder film clearly shows).  A shot to the center of the head was difficult from the angle of the assassin because Kennedy was slightly slumped over following the first shot from behind.

Skip to 9:30 - 9:50 where you can hear the newsman reporting live that the secret service agents are armed with submachine guns.

Has anyone ever wondered why only one secret service agent (Clint Hill who was part of Jackie Kennedy's security detail) went to Kennedy's car after he was shot?

View from above of Dealy Plaza

This man has come to be called "Umbrella Man." Could he have been working to signal the shooters and/or the Secret Service who were in on the assassination as he was observed to move his umbrella up and down in strange ways. There was no need for an umbrella that day. He was at nearly the exact location of the assassination.

This is the kill-shot gunman's view from behind the fence.

Here is the fence from where the kill-shot came (fence atop the Grassy Knoll).

At first the Secret Service car was following closely, but at the time of the kill-shot, they had pulled back to avoid getting shot themselves. Notice the witness in red pointing to the shooter in the Secret Service car who shot JFK in the back. Notice too that Mrs. Kennedy tries to escape out the back of the car - away from where the kill-shot came. Instinct forces a person to do this.

Notice the direction that all Secret Service agents in car behind the President are looking (to the right). Could they have known in advance that the kill-shot would come from the right?

Footage - Skip to 7:20 - 9:20 where you can see people running toward the Grassy Knoll and up the hill where they heard the shots come from. Why else would they run to this particular spot? They were outraged by what they witnessed and wanted to see the killer get caught.

JFK and LBJ were colleagues and friends. They admired each other. Any suggestion that LBJ had anything to do with JFK's assassination is absurd.

Re: Photograph below

Notice anything strange about this picture?  It is shot from above.  Perhaps it was shot from the now infamous Texas Schoolbook Depository.  Notice anything else?  Look at the upper edge of the photo.  You'll see many men looking up and not looking at the President driving by.  Could they be looking for the assassin that they were told in advance would be there?  Could they have been given some, but not all the information.  They were told in advance that Oswald would shoot from the sixth floor.  They would be able to perpetuate the myth that it was Oswald and Oswald alone.  And then, who took this picture.  Were they not also in the School Book Depository?  What is their involvement?

Picture shot from above just before the assassination of the President

GHWB's Legacy of criminal deeds continued after the JFK Assassination with Watergate and some would argue War Crimes such as Iran-Contra (as Vice President) and the Gulf War (as President). His was in the Middle East continues to this day.

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

Kevin Price Phillips and others have detailed subsequent involvement by Zapata associates in the Watergate affair. George Bush, as Richard Nixon's ambassador to the United Nations, allegedly urged his former Zapata partner Bill Liedtke to launder $100,000 to the White House plumbers. After Nixon's 1972 re-election, he appointed Bush as Chairman of the Republican Party National Committee. When the laundering was exposed, those involved included several CIA officials: E. Howard HuntFrank SturgisEugenio MartínezVirgilio González, and Bernard Barker. A discussion of the laundering appears on the Nixon tapes for June 23, 1973.

Bay of Pigs Code-Name = "Operation Zapata." Zapata Off-Shore was the name of GHWB's company with rigs/operations near Cuba. JFK did not like how the Bay of Pigs went down. He blamed the CIA and fired director Dulles.

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

The CIA codename for the Bay of Pigs invasion of April 1961 was "Operation Zapata."  Through his work with Zapata Offshore, Bush is alleged to have come into contact with Felix RodriguezBarry SealPorter Goss, and E. Howard Hunt, around the time of the Bay of Pigs operation.

CIA liaison officer Col. L. (Leroy) Fletcher Prouty alleges that Zapata Off-Shore provided or was used as cover for two of the ships used in the Bay of Pigs invasion: the Barbara J and Houston.

John Sherwood of the CIA on GHWB

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/
Bush was at first a tiny part of OPERATION MONGOOSE, the CIA's code name for their anti-Castro operations. According to the late John Sherwood, "Bush was like hundreds of other businessmen who provided the nuts-and-bolts assistance such operations require... What they mainly helped us with was to give us a place to park people that was discreet."

Robert T. Crowley and William Corson of the CIA on GHWB

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

Bush was officially considered a CIA business asset, according to Crowley and Corson. "George's insecurities were clay to someone like Dulles", William Corson said. To recruit young George Bush, Robert Crowley explained, Dulles convinced him that "he could contribute to his country as well as get help from the CIA for his overseas business activities." [Bush] was, according to Corson, "perfect at talent spotting and looking at potential recruits for the CIA. You have to remember, we had real fears of Soviet activity in Mexico in the 1950s. Bush was one of many businessmen that would be reimbursed for hiring someone the CIA was interested in, or simply carrying a message."

Re: Memo #2 Below

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

A second FBI memorandum, written by J. Edgar Hoover, identifies "George Bush" with the CIA. It is dated 29 November 1963 and refers to a briefing given Bush on 23 November. The FBI Director describes a briefing about JFK's murder "orally furnished to Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency. .. [by] this Bureau" on "December 20, 1963.

Memo #2: FBI Director Hoover Names GHWB as CIA Agent Associated with JFK Assassination

Re: Memo #1 Below

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

The memo names Zapata Off-Shore and was written by FBI Special Agent Graham Kitchel on 22 November 1963, regarding the John F. Kennedy assassination at 12:30 p.m. CST that day. It begins: "At 1:45 p.m. Mr. GEORGE H. W. BUSH, President of the Zapata Off-Shore Drilling Company, Houston, Texas, residence 5525 Briar, Houston, telephonically furnished the following information to writer. .. BUSH stated that he wanted to be kept confidential. .. was proceeding to Dallas, Texas, would remain in the Sheraton-Dallas Hotel."

Memo #1: FBI Agent Kitchel Reports that GHWB Contacted the FBI Re: Kennedy Assassination (Why would GHWB call with this info except to detract from who the real killers were?)

History of Zapata Off-Shore

Excerpts from: http://paulkangas.tripod.com/ghwbushlbjkilledpresidentjohnkennedy/

Zapata Corporation split in 1959 into independent companies Zapata Petroleum, headed by the Liedtkes, and Zapata Off-Shore, headed by George H.W. Bush.  Bush moved his offices and family that year from Midland, Texas to Houston.

According to a George H. W. Bush-biographer, Nicholas King, in the late-1950s and early-1960, Zapata Off-Shore concentrated its business in the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Central American coast.  The U.S. government began to auction off mineral rights to these areas in 1954. In 1958, drilling contracts with the seven large U.S. oil producers included wells 40 miles (64 km) north of IsabelaCuba, near the island Cay Sal.  In July 1959, Cuba's Batista government was overthrown by Fidel Castro. Zapata also won a contract with Kuwait.

In 1962, Bush was joined in Zapata Off-Shore by a fellow Yale Skull and Bones member, Robert Gow. By 1963, Zapata Off-Shore had four operational oil-drilling rigs—Scorpion (1956), Vinegaroon (1957), Sidewinder, and (in the Persian Gulf) Nola III.

By 1964, Zapata Off-Shore had a number of subsidiaries, including: Seacat-Zapata Offshore Company (Persian Gulf), Zapata de Mexico, Zapata International Corporation.

Various writers have suggested that Zapata Off-Shore, and Bush in particular, cooperated with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) beginning in the late 1950s.

JFK Assassination witness Ed Hoffman said that he saw someone shoot from behind the fence of the Grassy Knoll.

FBI Director, J. Edgar Hoover: “The thing I am concerned about, and so is Mr. Katzenbach, is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin.”

Hired Guns like James Files say they were just doing a job when he shot JFK. Whether or not he was the killer at the Grassy Knoll, we'll never know for sure. But surely the kill-shot came from there.

Frame - 0:18 - Cooper Film Shows Ruby at Oswald's Midnight News Conference Despite No Press Pass (So it was no impulse the next day in the Police Station basement when he shot Oswald dead)

Oswald's Midnight Press Conference

There were Warren Commission factions. Dulles and Ford took charge of things and wrapped things up quickly without a thorough investigation and deliberately ignoring many of the facts of the case.

Zapata Oil was an oil exploration business set up by George H. W. Bush and three others. The company was started with assistance from Allen Dulles (the same Dulles who headed up CIA; was fired by JFK; later served on the Warren Commission). A CIA internal memo dated November 29, 1975 confirmed that Zapata Petroleum began in 1953 through Bush's joint efforts with Thomas J. Devine, a CIA staffer who had resigned his agency position that same year to go into private business, but who continued to work for the CIA under commercial cover.

The man with film of the JFK Autopsy was killed by order of the CIA.

Secret Service agents were ordered to stand down just prior to the assassination. Why? On Whose Orders?

Counting Coincidences - Vice President Bush's son was friends with Reagan's would-be assassin's brother

GHWB & Reagan lied. Lies left Bush unscathed and Reagan with a brain on decline. Reagan had a conscience.

GHWB's Father, Prescott Bush

GHWB's Self-Awareness

GHWB speaks at Ford funeral. Talking about Oswald, he knows that what he is saying is a lie and a big one. “It’s an unconscious delight with getting away with a big whopper, so they’ll be a slight smile when someone is actually telling you that lie,” says Pamela Meyer, an expert in deception. Also, to speak of Ford and the "truth" of the Warren Commission report at a funeral is entirely out of place. (Ford was part of the Warren Commission)

In this interview from 2007, GHWB describes what happened to him on 9/2/44. He mentions a gash to his forehead. Look at supposed video from "the rescue" just below this video. Do you see blood on his forehead? He barely mentions the two on the plane who died other than to mention he jumped first.

On September 2, 1944, GHWB's plane went down. Two others in the plane died. GHWB survived unscathed and ready for his photo-op..

Obituaries have transformed the terror that GHWB inflicted, depicting it as heroism.

By Greg Grandin, December 4, 2018, The Nation
Below are excerpts from
https://www.thenation.com/article/george-h-w-bush-icon-of-the-wasp-establishment-and-of-brutal-us-repression-in-the-third-world/

Raised in the shadow of legends, of a father (Prescott Bush) and two grandfathers (Samuel Bush and George H. Walker) who helped steer the expansive, epic era of Episcopalian capitalism—when American industry and politics had become interlocked with militarism—George H.W. Bush came into his own during the glory days of covert action in the Third World. This period ran from, say, the 1953 overthrow of Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran through the Guatemala coup in 1954 and the Cuban Revolution in 1959 to the assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba and the Bay of Pigs in 1961, until the eve of escalation in Vietnam.

Bush would serve for a year as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency in the mid-1970s, but, as Joseph McBride reported in The Nation in 1988, his involvement with the agency had started much earlier. In November 1963, shortly after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover wrote a memo to the State Department describing the briefing of “Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency” on the reaction to the assassination by anti-Castro Cuban exiles in Miami (it was feared by some that the exiles might take advantage of the chaotic situation by initiating an unauthorized raid against Cuba). McBride also cited a source with close connection to the intelligence community who confirmed that, as McBride put it, “Bush started working for the agency in 1960 or 1961, using his oil business as a cover for clandestine activities.”

According to Phillips, “from Yale’s class of 1943 alone, at least forty-two young men entered the intelligence services” (Bush attended from 1945 to 1948), and nearly every major player involved in the Bay of Pigs invasion had been in Yale’s secret Skull and Bones society. By the time Bush became director of the CIA in 1976, Phillips writes, “three generations of the Bush and Walker families already had some six decades of intelligence-related activity and experience under their belts,” which apparently also involved a Mexico-CIA “money line” that made its way into “the hands of the Watergate burglars.”

Bush’s family, despite its Nazi Entanglements, had done well under the New Deal. But H.W., out of Yale, made the jump to the libertarian rebel lands of West Texas, where “independent” Houston oilmen bridled at the privileged position of large petroleum companies. As the war in Vietnam accelerated the crisis within the Establishment, and as Third World nationalism began to threaten their economic interests, this new class of carbon extractors gained in political influence and injected an intensified ideological fervor into covert ops.

Phillips places Bush’s Zapata drilling company (named, apparently, after the 1952 Marlon Brando film Viva Zapata!) at the center of this transformation, involved in both the 1954 Guatemala coup and the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion. (According to Phillips, the Walker-Bush sugar holdings in Cuba took a hit, as Fidel Castro’s revolutionary government “seized the company’s lands, mills, and machinery.”)

Obituaries have transformed the terror that Bush inflicted—as head of the CIA, as Ronald Reagan’s vice president, and as president, on poor countries—depicting it as heroism. The invasion of Panama is given scant notice, and the first Gulf War is judged “just” But Bush helmed the CIA when it was working closely with Latin American death squads grouped under Operation Condor, naming Ted Shackley, implicated in terror operations in Southeast Asia and Latin America—including Vietnam’s Phoenix program and the 1973 coup against Chile’s Salvador Allende—the agency’s powerful associate deputy director for operations. Bush gave the go-head to the neoconservative Team B project, founded on the idea that, after the US debacle in Vietnam, the agency had become too soft on Third World nationalism.

1988, C-Span, Joseph McBride speaks about GHWB's involvement with CIA in the early 1960s.

This one is for you Mr. George Bush Senior, I can't think of anyone meaner. (author unknown)

"When I was just a little fool my momma sent me off to a place called school.

When I was just a little fool, my momma sent me off to a place called school.

Liked the part about taking a nap but it seemed that everything else was a load of crap.
No foolin.

Taught us George Washington chopped down a Cherry tree
to give us freedom and liberty.

Did I mention Columbus discovered America?

Well I went off to college but believe it or not
the harder I studied the dumber I got.

Taught us we were all geniuses, folks back home was asses
And elites like us ought to rule the masses.

Some schoolin"
Had to drop out though.
Just couldn't get my shoulders inside my a-hole.

Well I got slapped in the face, no it couldn't a been ruder
by a friend with a film from a guy named Zapruder.

Showed Kennedy's brains getting blown out the back
Seems the Warren Commission was hooked on crack.

And the F being I and all the TV and radio and
every newspaper on God's green earth.

Well the day JFK was blown away
Old George Bush was a workin in the CIA

And though E. Howard Hunt may have held the gun
George Bush Senior was surely the one who said
"Do it"!
Told them again during Watergate said
"Do it"!
Sold that slogan to Nike.

Forty years later I'm still preachin away
seems my head's still out in the light of day,

but people are still cryin, Kennedy's still dyin
and the TV's and the papers and the teachers still lyin

Seems it's still pretty dark out.
In the middle of the day.
Even if you don't have your head shoved up three miles up your own as-hole.

GHWB deserves no respect, but disdain instead (Film by John Hankey).
